The research of previous reports refers to the “closing of civic space”, deterioration of conditions for advocacy activities in the Central and Eastern Europe. The main identified issues in CEE generally are: anti-democratic backslash, lack of transparency of public governance, and complications of the financing opportunities. The role of the state is deficient regarding financing and protection of the CSOs. The relations between the EU and CSOs are lacking structured dialogue and shared interests.
